The Power of Peer Pressure Essay -- Peer Pressure Essays
Today, children can kiss their youth goodbye. Starting as young as 12 years old, tweens, the term coined for kids in between child and teen, begin to face the cruel world of reality: drugs, sex, alcohol and violence. At 12 years old, the world should be perfect. Instead, the world is far from it. Kids have too much exposure to the dangers the world has to offer at an early age because of what surrounds them. Because of the influences of peer pressure, parenting and, of course, the relentless media, today's children face problems at a young age that can potentially lead to serious complications in the long term. Everyone's doing it, right? Wrong. Peer pressure is when a child does something he or she does not want to do as a result of being pressured by friends. All children experience peer pressure and give into it at one time or another. Fortunately, most children are not "experimenting" with drugs, sex, alcohol and violence. Even though most kids are not indulging in these activities, there still are a handful who are and they attempt to pressure other kids to do what they a...

Watergate Scandal and President Nixon Essay example -- American Preside
What kind of person commits three major violations of the national law and gets away with it? Well that person is Nixon. President Richard Nixon was one of the most famous presidents in the United States. He was mainly renowned for his huge role in the Watergate scandal. The Watergate scandal was important because Nixon and his cabinet arranged to get people to spy on the Democratic National Committee in the Watergate building. After it became clear Nixon was responsible, he manages to resign before he was going to be impeached. President Nixon was involved with the Watergate scandal and should be sentenced to jail because he organized it, which then got leaked out and finally led to his resignation. Nixon was the mastermind behind the mission and the main reason he organized it was to find out secret information of the Democrats. He organized a committee to help him ensure his victory in the elections. ââ¬Å"The committee to reelect the Presidentâ⬠(CRP) used unfair tactics to get what they wanted. They organized a group of thugs ââ¬â ââ¬Å"Plumbersâ⬠to sneak into the Watergate and plant listening devices. The plumbers, James W. McCord, Bernard Barker, Virgilio Gonzalez, Eugenio Martinez, and Frank Sturgis however, were caught by the police. Nixon didnââ¬â¢t want anyone to find out about the break in. He said shortly after the plumbers were caught "In all my years of public life, I have never obstructed justice. People have got to know whether or not their President is a crook. Well, I'm not a crook; I earned everything I've got." Nixon lied through his teeth just to get the public attention on something else. What he didnââ¬â¢t realize was that it was th e beginning of his demise. Although many Americans didnââ¬â¢t care about the little scene in the ... ...rââ¬â¢s mission, people got infuriated with the scandal, and he resigned to get away with his mistakes. He got impeached because he violated of constitutional oath, prevented, obstructed, and impeded administration of justice, and concealed those responsible of prison. He violated the constitutional oath because he did not serve his country the way he is supposed to. He obstructed, prevented and impeded administration of justice because lied that he was not responsible for the scandal. He concealed those responsible of prison because he didnââ¬â¢t tell the authorities who else was involved in the scandal. John Srica, Carl Woodward, and Bob Bernstein did an amazing job uncovering the scandal and who was behind it. Nixon should go to jail because everybody else who was responsible did. However, he escaped the wrath of jail because the next president, Gerald Ford pardoned him.

Which is the more reliable source for investigating people’s attitudes in 1910 towards the campaign?
Source D is a newspaper report about a demonstration by women in London in 1910; we can infer these women were Suffragettes as it was around the time of the peak in Suffrage activity and the obscenities mentioned are more closely related to those of the Suffragettes than any other group. However the author of the article, mistakenly, refers to them throughout the report as Suffragists. This shows the writer's lack of knowledge on the matter, and their ignorance to the issue leads us to believe they don't even know the full story. We can also infer from this that the author was anti all women suffrage, and all groups of women who wanted the vote; Suffragettes and Suffragists. It is very likely that the author of the newspaper article in Source D was a man. We can deduce this, as around the time it was written, we know men were considered more important and therefore it is unlikely there would have been many female reporters. We can also deduce this because, although there were some women who were anti-suffrage, the majority were indeed men. Knowing this about the author would lead us to believe the article is biased against women and would therefore present them in the most negative light. The article has a rather gossipy tone to it, and although some strong facts are put across (the Suffragettes did storm the House of Commons, arrests were made, the women were led by Mrs Pankhurst and they did come from the Council of War at Caxton Hall), most of it is opinion, for instance, ââ¬Å"It was a picture of shameful recklessnessâ⬠¦Ã¢â¬ , is a point of view, not a fact. However this is helpful in giving us an insight into the opinions of the public too, around this time. The article was written for the Daily Sketch, a tabloid; the author would have been writing to sell papers, he would therefore be writing things that would appeal to the public and please them. We can therefore infer from the source that the public views were also anti-suffrage. Source E is a postcard issued by the Suffragettes in 1910. It is obviously a piece of propaganda as it was made by the Suffragettes and is an argument in favour of votes for women. The point it is arguing and is also proving is that, you can be a decent woman (a doctor, a nurse or a mother) and not receive the vote, but an indecent man (a lunatic, a drunkard) can receive it. Both Sources are very reliable and they are both useful in showing the reader vastly different attitudes about the campaign to gain women the vote. Source E is very good at showing us the positive side to the argument. It is very reliable in showing what Suffragettes attitudes were, however, it is purely opinionated, and being a piece of propaganda it gives us no insight into the public's view of the matter. That is why Source D is more reliable, more people supported Source D's point of view. It is extremely useful in showing attitudes towards women's suffrage and, taking into consideration that the newspaper's main aim is to report on current affairs, the story must be more dependable and factual. Being a popular tabloid also gives us a deeper insight to the views of the public, as the writer's opinions would mirror those of the public-therefore, as the writer's views were negative, it means the public's were too. In conclusion, Source D is more reliable for investigating people's attitudes in 1910 towards the Suffrage campaign.

Media influence in Vietnam
Media influence in Vietnam BY jetports In the sass's the US was pushed Into a large scale Involvement In the crisis in Vietnam. This crisis called for thousands of men to be called to duty for the greater good of democracy. While the war was taking place nearly 8,000 miles off the US shores, it was also unfolding in front of the eyes of the US citizen on national television. For the first time in warfare, the outcome of what unfolded on television instead of what unfolded on the battlefield played a larger role in determining the victor than the opposing force. This is the first but in no way the last time that media ill have a determining effect on the outcome of the war. Many people question the true effect that the US media had on the outcome of the war because they don't realize how much of the war the American public was truly seeing. As the war was beginning to unfold, the average American family was centered around the television. Families back home could sit in front of the TV at any time they desired and see a whole days worth of fighting. At the height of escalation, Robert Elegant served as foreign correspondent for Newsweek. ââ¬Å"War has always been beastly, but the Vietnam war was the first war exposed to television cameras and seen in rustically every home, often In Miming color. Not surprisingly this close-up view of devastation and suffering, repeated daily, strengthened the growing desire for peaceâ⬠l. Through his own personal experience, Robert saw firsthand the effects of media on the war. By seeing this daily occurrence of media coverage, him and many others can agree that it is to blame for US defeat. At the beginning of the war United States reporters and correspondents set out on relaying American progress in Vietnam back to the homegrown. As the war continued, attempting to send good news home showed to be nearly Impossible. Even with the Increase of media coverage, the U. S. Reporters weren't even able to accomplish what they had or iginally set out to do in the first place, instead they practically diminished what little support remained. If anything what they accomplished was the exact opposite of what they set out to do.As Robert Elegance's corresponding continued, much of what he and other reporters captured stayed the same. ââ¬Å"The best of their reporting accurately conveyed the horror of war. â⬠The news that would reach the living rooms of Americans everywhere would be the news of loss and tragedy In the Jungles of Vietnam. In a time when President Johnson needed public support the most he lost it, thus creating a war on two fronts, one against the Vietnamese, and the other against his own people. With a war for public support beginning, President Johnson and many other prominent United States political figures were beginning to worry. Johnson knew that if he was to lose all of his public support then he would surely lose the war. George Moss, a professor at City college, has a much different view point on the effect of media. Moss believes that the media had no effect on the outcome, the main cause for the loss was distrust n Johnson. During the Et offensive, much of US public support declined. ââ¬Å"Many Americans had turned against the war and had distrusted Johnson long before Etâ⬠al.Before the Et offensive had occurred, public support was rather high but once the war had heightened in the late sass's Johnson had begin to see his lack of support. Moss' theory that distrust In Johnson had caused the US defeat In Vietnam Is quickly which is simply the misinterpretation of facts and use of devastating footage. ââ¬Å"Wars have been badly reported in the past. Facts have been MIS-stated, and their interpretation has been biased. Emotions have been deliberately inflamed, and the reporters have ridden to fame on waves of misinterpretation. But never before war coming from the media, the loss of public support can be directly related to the coverage from reporters and corre spondents. Many people may say that the reason that Vietnam was lost was because of poor military or political planning when entering Vietnam, without the media however the people would have never seen how much of a devastating impact these flaws caused. ââ¬Å"The United States lost the Vietnam War because flawed political and military strategic thinking had trapped it in a instant stalemate that would never have sustained popular support. This may have been the case, however without the coverage of the media citizens would have had no way of being informed of these flaws and public support may have never diminished because of it. ââ¬Å"At any given moment, a million images were available to the camera's lens. â⬠When Americans were able to see what was actually happening in Vietnam because of their half hearted politics and military strategy. You may be able to argue that the military and political set ups of the war were flawed but they will ultimately trace back to being b rought to light by media coverage.
National Territory of the Philippines Essay
The Constitution of the Philippines ( Filipino: Saligang Batas ng Pilipinas ) is the supreme jurisprudence of the Philippines. The Constitution presently in consequence was enacted in 1987. during the disposal of President Corazon Aquino. and is popularly known as the ââ¬Å"1987 Constitutionâ⬠. [ 1 ] Philippine constitutional jurisprudence experts recognize three other old fundamental laws as holding efficaciously governed the state ââ¬â the 1935 Commonwealth Constitution. the 1973 Constitution. and the 1986 Freedom Constitution. [ 2 ] [ 3 ] Fundamental laws for the Philippines were besides drafted and adopted during the ephemeral authoritiess of Presidents Emilio Aguinaldo ( 1898 ) and Jose P. Laurel ( 1943 ) . â⬠¢ Background of the 1987 ConstitutionIn 1986. following the People Power Revolution which ousted Ferdinand Marcos as president. and following on her ain startup. Corazon Aquino issued Proclamation No. 3. declaring a national policy to implement the reforms mandated by the people. protecting their basic rights. following a probationary fundamental law. and supplying for an orderly interlingual rendition to a authorities under a new fundamental law. [ 4 ] President Aquino subsequently issued Proclamation No. 9. making a Constitutional Commission ( popularly abbreviated ââ¬Å"Con Comâ⬠in the Philippines ) to border a new fundamental law to replace the 1973 Constitution which took consequence during the Marcos soldierly jurisprudence government. Aquino appointed 50 members to the Commission. The members of the Commission were drawn from varied backgrounds. including several former congresswomans. a former Supreme Court Chief Justice ( Roberto Concepcion ) . a Catholic bishop ( Teodoro Bacani ) and movie manager ( Lino Brocka ) . Aquino besides intentionally appointed 5 members. including former Labor Minister Blas Ople. who had been allied with Marcos until the latterââ¬â¢s ejector. After the Commission had convened. it elected as its president Cecilia Munoz-Palma. who had emerged as a prima figure in the anti-Marcos resistance following her retirement as the first female Associate Justice of the Supreme Court. The Commission finished the bill of exchange charter within four months after it was convened. Several issues were hotly debated during the Sessionss. including on the signifier of authorities to follow. the abolishment of the decease punishment. the continued keeping of the Clark and Subic American military bases. and the integrating of economic policies into the Constitution. Brocka would walk out of the Commission before its completion. and two other delegates would dissent from the concluding bill of exchange. The ConCom completed their undertaking on October 12. 1986 and presented the bill of exchange fundamental law to President Aquino on October 15. 1986. After a period of countrywide information run. a plebiscite for its confirmation was held on February 2. 1987. More than three-fourth of all ballots cast. 76. 37 % ( or 17. 059. 495 electors ) favored confirmation as against 22. 65 % ( or 5. 058. 714 electors ) who voted against confirmation. On February 11. 1987. the new fundamental law was proclaimed sanctioned and took consequence. On that same twenty-four hours. Aquino. the other authorities functionaries. and the Armed Forces of the Philippines pledged commitment to the Constitution. Significant characteristics of the 1987 Fundamental law The Constitution establishes the Philippines as a ââ¬Å"democratic and republican Stateâ⬠. where ââ¬Å"sovereignty resides in the people and all authorities authorization emanates from themâ⬠. ( Section 1. Article II ) Consistent with the philosophy of separation of powers. the powers of the national authorities are exercised in chief by three subdivisions ââ¬â the executive subdivision headed by the President. the legislative subdivision composed of Congress and the judicial subdivision with the Supreme Court busying the highest grade of the bench. The President and the members of Congress are straight elected by the people. while the members of the Supreme Court are appointed by the President from a list formed by the Judicial and Bar Council. As with the American system of authorities. it is Congress which enacts the Torahs. topic to the veto power of the President which may however be overturned by a two-thirds ballot of Congress ( Section 27 ( 1 ) . Article VI ) . The President has the constitutional responsibility to guarantee the faithful executing of the Torahs ( Section 17. Article VII ) . while the tribunals are expressly granted the power of judicial reappraisal ( Section 1. Article VIII ) . including the power to invalidate or construe Torahs. The President is besides recognized as the commander-in-chief of the armed forces ( Section 18. Article VII ) . The Constitution besides establishes limited political liberty to the local authorities units that act as the municipal authoritiess for states. metropoliss. municipalities. and barangays. ( Section 1. Article X ) Local authoritiess are by and large considered as falling under the executive subdivision. yet local statute law requires enactment by duly elected local legislative organic structures. The Constitution ( Section 3. Article X ) mandated that the Congress would ordain a Local Government Code. The Congress punctually enacted Republic Act No. 7160. The Local Government Code of 1991. which became effectual on 1 January 1992. [ 5 ] The Supreme Court has noted that the Bill of Rights ââ¬Å"occupies a place of primacy in the cardinal lawâ⬠. [ 6 ] The Bill of Rights. contained in Article III. enumerates the specific protections against State power. Many of these wa rrants are similar to those provided in the American fundamental law and other democratic fundamental laws. including the due procedure and equal protection clause. the right against indefensible hunts and ictuss. the right to liberate address and the free exercising of faith. the right against self-incrimination. and the right to habeas principal. The range and restrictions to these rights have mostly been determined by Philippine Supreme Court determinations. Outside of the Bill of Rights. the Constitution besides contains several other commissariats reciting assorted province policies including. i. e. . the avowal of labour ââ¬Å"as a primary societal economic forceâ⬠( Section 14. Article II ) ; the equal protection of ââ¬Å"the life of the female parent and the life of the unborn from conceptionâ⬠( Section 12. Article II ) ; the ââ¬Å"Filipino household as the foundation of the nationâ⬠( Article XV. Section 1 ) ; the acknowledgment of Filipino as ââ¬Å"the national linguistic communication of the Philippinesâ⬠( Section 6. Article XVI ) . and even a demand that ââ¬Å"all educational establishments shall set about regular athleticss activities throughout the state in cooperation with athletic nines and other sectors. â⬠( Section 19. 1. Article XIV ) Whether these commissariats may. by themselves. be the beginning of enforceable rights without attach toing statute law has been the topic of considerable argument in the legal domain and within the Supreme Court. The Court. for illustration. has ruled that a proviso necessitating that the State ââ¬Å"guarantee equal entree to chances to public serviceâ⬠could non be enforced without attach toing statute law. and therefore could non exclude the disallowance of alleged ââ¬Å"nuisance candidatesâ⬠in presidential elections. [ 7 ] But in another instance. the Court held that a proviso necessitating that the State ââ¬Å"protect and progress the right of the people to a balanced and healthful ecologyâ⬠did non necessitate implementing statute law to go the beginning of operative rights. [ 8 ] Historical fundamental laws Fundamental law of Biak-na-Bato ( 1897 ) The Katipunan revolution led to the Tejeros Convention where. at San Francisco de Malabon. Cavite. on March 22. 1897. the first presidential and frailty presidential elections in Philippine history were heldââ¬âalthough merely the Katipuneros ( members of the Katipunan ) were able to take portion. and non the general public. A ulterior meeting of the radical authorities established at that place. held on November 1. 1897 at Biak-na-Bato in the town of San Miguel de Mayumo in Bulacan. established the Republic of Biak-na-Bato. The democracy had a fundamental law drafted by Isabelo Artacho and Felix Ferrer and based on the first Cuban Constitution. [ 9 ] It is known as the ââ¬Å"Constitucion Provisional de la Republica de Filipinasâ⬠. and was originally written in and promulgated in the Spanish and Tagalog linguistic communications. [ 10 ] Malolos Constitution ( 1899 ) The Malolos Constitution was the first republican fundamental law in Asia. [ 11 ] It declared that sovereignty resides entirely in the people. stated basic civil rights. separated the church and province. and called for the creative activity of an Assembly of Representatives to move as the legislative organic structure. It besides called for a Presidential signifier of authorities with the president elected for a term of four old ages by a bulk of the Assembly. [ 12 ] It was titled ââ¬Å"Constitucion politicaâ⬠. and was written in Spanish following the declaration of independency from Spain. [ 13 ] proclaimed on January 20. 1899. and was enacted and ratified by the Malolos Congress. a Congress held in Malolos. Bulacan. [ 14 ] [ 15 ] Acts of the United States Congress The Philippines was a United States Territory from December 10. 1898 to March 24. 1934. [ 16 ] As such. the Philippines was under the legal power of the federal authorities of the United States during this period. Two Acts of the Apostless of the United States Congress passed during this period can be considered Filipino fundamental laws in that those Acts of the Apostless defined the cardinal political rules. and established the construction. processs. powers and responsibilities. of the Filipino authorities. 1. The Philippine Organic Act of 1902. sometimes known as the ââ¬Å"Philippine Bill of 1902â⬠. was the first organic jurisprudence for the Philippine Islands enacted by the United States Congress. It provided for the creative activity of a popularly elected Philippine Assembly. and specified that legislative power would be vested in a bicameral legislative assembly composed of the Filipino Commission ( upper house ) and the Philippine Assembly ( lower house ) . Its cardi nal commissariats included a measure of rights for the Filipinos and the assignment of two nonvoting Filipino occupant commissioners to stand for the Philippines in the United States Congress. 2. The Philippine Autonomy Act of 1916. sometimes known as ââ¬Å"Jones Lawâ⬠. modified the construction of the Filipino authorities by taking the Filipino Commission as the legislative upper house. replacing it with a Senate elected by Filipino electors. This act besides explicitly stated that it was and had ever been the intent of the people of the United States to retreat their sovereignty over the Filipino Islands and to acknowledge Filipino independency every bit shortly as a stable authorities can be established in this. Though non a fundamental law itself. the Tydings-McDuffie Act of 1934 provided authorization and defined mechanisms for the constitution of a formal fundamental law via a constitutional convention. Commonwealth and Third Republic ( 1935 ) The 1935 Constitution was written in 1934. sanctioned and adopted by the Commonwealth of the Philippines ( 1935-1946 ) and subsequently used by the Third Republic of the Philippines ( 1946-1972 ) . It was written with an oculus to run intoing the blessing of the United States Government every bit good. so as to guarantee that the U. S. would populate up to its promise to allow the Philippines independency and non hold a premiss to keep onto its ââ¬Å"possessionâ⬠on the evidences that it was excessively politically immature and therefore unready for full. existent independency. The original 1935 Constitution provided for unicameral National Assembly and the President was elected to a six-year term without re-election. It was amended in 1940 to hold a bicameral Congress composed of a Senate and House of Representatives. every bit good the creative activity of an independent electoral committee. The Constitution now granted the President a four-year term with a upper limit of two back-to-back footings in office. A Constitutional Convention was held in 1971 to rewrite the 1935 Constitution. The convention was stained with apparent graft and corruptness. Possibly the most controversial issue was taking the presidential term bound so that Ferdinand E. Marcos could seek election for a 3rd term. which many felt was the true ground for which the convention was called. In any instance. the 1935 Constitution was suspended in 1972 with Marcosââ¬â¢ announcement of soldierly jurisprudence. the rampant corruptness of the constitutional procedure supplying him with one of his major premises for making so. Second Republic ( 1943 ) The 1943 Constitution was drafted by a commission appointed by the Philippine Executive Commission. the organic structure established by the Japanese to administrate the Philippines in stead of the Commonwealth of the Philippines which had established a government-in-exile. In mid-1942 Nipponese Premier Hideki Tojo had promised the Filipinos ââ¬Å"the award of independenceâ⬠which meant that the committee would be supplanted by a formal democracy. The Preparatory Committee for Philippine Independence tasked with outlining a new fundamental law was composed in big portion. of members of the prewar National Assembly and of persons with experience as delegates to the convention that had drafted the 1935 Constitution. Their bill of exchange for the democracy to be established under the Nipponese Occupation. nevertheless. would be limited in continuance. supply for indirect. alternatively of direct. legislative elections. and an even stronger executive subdivision. Upon blessing of the bill of exchange by the Committee. the new charter was ratified in 1943 by an assembly of appointed. provincial representatives of the Kalibapi. the organisation established by the Japanese to replace all old political parties. Upon confirmation by the Kalibapi assembly. the Second Republic was officially proclaimed ( 1943-1945 ) . Jose P. Laurel was appointed as President by the National Assembly and inaugurated into office in October 1943. Laurel was extremely regarded by the Japanese for holding openly criticised the US for the manner they ran the Philippines. and because he had a grade from Tokyo International University. The 1943 Constitution remained in force in Japanese-controlled countries of the Philippines. but was ne'er recognized as legitimate or binding by the authoritiess of the United States or of the Commonwealth of the Philippines and guerilla organisations loyal to them. In late 1944. President Laurel declared a province of war existed with the United States and the British Empire and proclaimed soldierly jurisprudence. basically governing by edict. His authorities in bend went into expatriate in December. 1944. first to Taiwan and so Japan. After the proclamation of Japanââ¬â¢s resignation. Laurel officially proclaimed the Second Republic as dissolved. Until the sixtiess. the Second Republic. and its officers. were non viewed as legitimate or as holding any standing. with the exclusion of the Supreme Court whose determinations. limited to reappraisals of condemnable and commercial instances as portion of a policy of discretion by Chief Justice Jose Yulo continued to be portion of the functionary records ( this was made easier by the Commonwealth ne'er representing a Supreme Court. and the formal vacancy in the main justness place for the Commonwealth with the executing of Chief Justice Jose Abad Santos by the Japanese ) . It was merely during the Macapagal disposal that a partial. political rehabilitation of the Japanese-era democracy took topographic point. with the acknowledgment of Laurel as a former president and the add-on of his cabinet and other functionaries to the roll of past authorities functionaries. However. the 1943 charter was non taught in schools and the Torahs of the 1943-44 National Assembly ne'er recognized as valid or relevant. The 1943 Constitution provided strong executive powers. The Legislature consisted of a unicameral National Assembly and merely those considered as anti-US could stand for election. although in pattern most legislators were appointed instead than elected. The New Society and the Fourth Republic ( 1973 ) The 1973 Constitution. promulgated after Marcosââ¬â¢ declaration of soldierly jurisprudence. was supposed to present a parliamentary-style authorities. Legislative power was vested in a National Assembly whose members were elected for six-year footings. The President was ideally supposed to be elected as the symbolic and strictly ceremonial caput of province from the Members of the National Assembly for a six-year term and could be re-elected to an limitless figure of footings. Upon election. the President ceased to be a member of the National Assembly. During his term. the President was non allowed to be a member of a political party or keep any other office. Executive power was meant to be exercised by the Prime Minister who was besides elected from the Members of the National Assembly. The Prime Minister was the caput of authorities and Commander-in-Chief of the armed forces. This fundamental law was later amended four times ( arguably five depending on how one considers Proclamation No. 3 of 1986 ) . On October 16-17 1976. a bulk of barangay electors ( Citizen Assemblies ) approved that soldierly jurisprudence should be continued and ratified the amendments to the Constitution proposed by President Marcos. [ 19 ] The 1976 amendments were: â⬠¢an Interim Batasang Pambansa ( IBP ) replacing for the Interim National Assembly â⬠¢the President would besides go the Prime Minister and he would go on to exert legislative powers until soldierly jurisprudence should hold been lifted. The Sixth Amendment authorized the President to pass: Whenever in the judgement of the President there exists a sedate exigency or a menace or imminency thereof. or whenever the Interim Batasang Pambansa or the regular National Assembly fails or is unable to move adequately on any affair for any ground that in his judgement requires immediate action. he may. in order to run into the exigency. publish the necessary edicts. orders or letters of instructions. which shall organize portion of the jurisprudence of the land. The 1973 Constitution was further amended in 1980 and 1981. In the 1980 amendment. the retirement age of the members of the Judiciary was extended to 70 old ages. In the 1981 amendments. the false parliamentary system was officially modified into a French-style semi-presidential system: â⬠¢executive power was restored to the President ;â⬠¢direct election of the President was restored ;â⬠¢an Executive Committee composed of the Prime Minister and non more than 14 members was created to ââ¬Å"assist the President in the exercising of his powers and maps and in the public presentation of his responsibilities as he may order ; â⬠and the Prime Minister was a mere caput of the Cabinet.â⬠¢Further. the amendments instituted electoral reforms and provided that a natural born citizen of the Philippines who has lost his citizenship may be a transferee of private land for usage by him as his abode. Carrying An Activity Is Related To Money
Discuss About The Carrying An Activity Is Related To Money? Business stands for carrying an activity that is related to money. It is operated in every part of the globe and as the business grows, it looks for more opportunities across the border. International business is the term that is used for the operation and objective of a nation that have some interest in other countries. International business includes all the commercial transactions whether it is private or governmental, sales, investments, transportation that takes place between two or more religions, ethics, culture or nation. Many companies such as Tesco, Disney, and Ford are having its business operations in other countries to earn profit and to grow its business. With more opportunities, the international business is also very complex. And for solving these complications, organisations appoints international managers. They are the ones who ease the companyââ¬â¢s operations in other countries. An international manager is a wide-ranging title for an executive who handles the c orporationââ¬â¢s global processes. Large companies recruit numerous departmental international managers such as managers who are in charge of worldwide sales, social marketing or foreign business. This study will elaborate the challenges and possible opportunities for the managers that are operating in a global environment. It will outline a brief description of international environment and the challenges that managers face while operating in a global business environment. In addition to this, the essay will also demonstrate some practical examples for an Australian organisation which is facing challenges in the international competition and expansion. At last, the study will outline the personal views of the researcher. International business is the term that is used for the operation and objective of a nation that have some interest in other countries. International business includes all the commercial transactions whether it is private or governmental, sales, investments, transportation that takes place between two or more religions, ethics, culture or nation. It comprises any type of trade operations that overlaps national boundaries. In the terms of definition scale, international business is demarcated as companies that purchases or sell goods or facilities across two or more nationwide borders, even the administration of the company is situated in a single nation (Teagarden, 2017). Starting a commercial operation in a foreign land is a thrilling prospect, but the management of the company must be equipped for the range of encounters that come with functioning in a massively dissimilar situation. It is important for the managers of these organisations to reflect the economic, political and soci al climate of the region in which the company is going to function. Having a rigorous research about the republic in which the company is going to operate will enable the managers to face the difficulties or challenges associated while operating overseas. While the global business context faces environmental issues, a small portion of international manager environmental substructure shows a crucial character for the business. Foreign rivalry impact local competitiveness and its safety is the primary reason that tests every manager ("Managing Human Resources in an International Business", 2017). In order to maintain their visibility in the international marketplace, they must deliberate the encounters and how they discourse them. Here are the main challenges faced by international managers: Communication is the key attribute of every prosperous industry, so international manager has to acquire some level of confidence in the local language and that must be their first importance before interacting with any native client. Not having rudimentary knowledge of local language will create problem for the managers regarding not being able to directly coming to the point. Culture is another problem for managers (Mackenzie, 2010). Not having knowledge about local way of gesture sometimes makes clients unhappy. If the sales are increasing overseas, international managers have to find the means to steer language barricades that may increase towards customer service centre of the organisation.à à According to Klebber Terra, the director of operations at the Samarco mine in the south-eastern state of Minas Gerais, stated that BHP Billiton is facing problem while operating in Brazil. The CEO of BHP Billiton, Andrew Mackenzie stated that the company is very sympathetic and distraught on the operation problem faced by the community. Dealing the business operations in different countries with different cultures, background and language, always creates issues for the service department of an organisation. In these situations, it is important for the international manager of BHP Billiton to have native call centres for the customers which can handle the issues. An organisation business operation could falter quickly if international manager of the company are unaware of the commercial legitimacies and guidelines of the nation in which the business is functioning. Governmental controls, tax rules and health and safety principles vary from site to site and country to country ("International Culture", 2017). It is important for the international managers to study the laws that disturb the corporationââ¬â¢s processes. It is important for them to direct all the necessary investigation and connect the findings and prospects all over the business. It is important for them to understand the several rules and guidelines that manage the company merchandises and services. International managers must conform to the tax laws of the dissimilar countries along with constitutional export conventions. The management of BHP Billiton preserves ethical dealings with the administrations and their assistances, officials and staffs. The companyââ¬â¢s aptitude to bear business is unswervingly influenced by foreign government decision making and it is significant for the firm international manager to have exposed and productive dealings with the government. In the Samarco disaster, the town of Bento Rodrigues was completely destroyed. It is evident that the Samarco mine is jointly owned by mining giants Vale of Brazil and BHP Billiton of Australia. With the disaster, and with the countryââ¬â¢s laws and regulations, BHP Billiton and its ventured company had to sign a deal with the state and federal public prosecutors to pay US$262 million in damages. It is important for the executive of BHP Billiton to keep more concern about the environmental issues of a foreign state so that it could prevent penalty from the foreign government.à à à An organisation is likely to deal with foreign currency while operating overseas. In order to complete the transactions successfully, international managers must study the conversation rate to keep up with the up-to-date exchange rates ("International Business- An Overview", 2017). Having mistaken in bookkeeping due to inappropriate calculations could generate a false reportage and legal difficulties, which can reduce the solidity of companyââ¬â¢s foot line. International managers for preventing incorrect calculations and other matters must progress a clear company-wide strategy to initiate the workers on accounting performs including the foreign exchange. à Another issue in currency is its ups and downs. For BHP Billiton, the fall in the Chinese market is a very big concern. It is important to state here that China represents the 61% of the global seaborne iron ore demand. For BHP Billiton, sales in China generated $21.6 billion during 2012. But a lower economic growth in China market resulted in the lower prices and demands of the companyââ¬â¢s products and also negatively impacted in companyââ¬â¢s international market result. The revision of International business prominence on the specific difficulties and chances that appear as an establishment is functioning in more than one nation. In real terms, worldwide business includes the most generalised study for the business field that is modified towards an equitably unique across the boundary situation (Guedes & Faria, 2011). Directing worldwide business is like operating a new field where worldwide managers have to absorb the influences that are essential for operating in that field. Managers who are shrewd in recognizing new conducts of doing trade that please the altering primacies of foreign administrations have a clear and chief modest benefit over their participants who cannot or will not familiarize to these altering primacies. It is evident that BHP Billiton is in the commodities business and this is the thing that most of the foreign investors recognise. As the organisation operation is based on the prices it obtain for their oil, gas, minerals in the world markets, which have been subjected to substantial volatility. It is important for the firm betrothed in worldwide business doings to include a global viewpoint. An establishment supervisory principles can be demarcated on the basis of three board categories namely, services or products to the market assisted, abilities and consequences. But, these viewpoint of global business in significant to recognise and appreciate the complete meaning of international trade (Future international manager, 2014). An establishment international manager must openly define the companyââ¬â¢s guiding values in terms of international mandate instead of allowing companyââ¬â¢s guiding principles on the terms of international adjust to its national happenings. Having a global outlook on the firmââ¬â¢s basic declaration of purpose will assist in focus of the executives on the opportunities outside the domestic market. à à à For international managers, it is important to formulate and implement a set of commercial plans for defining the companyââ¬â¢s guiding philosophies in the marketplace of a foreign land (Dlabay & Scott, 2011). These guiding principles relative to all the other things should deliver a long-term view of what the establishment is trying to become and achieve and should provide way to the central and subsidiary directors operations with the internationalisation of its markets. Every strategy of international manager comprises a number of secondary approach options. The decision procedure that usually develops in the marketing approach area is an operational one (Dlabay & Scott, 2011). As the international managers develop around a decision circle, previously particular strategies need to be modified. The shares of BHP Billiton got tumbled after the announcement of the company about writing down its multi-billion dollar US assets with its news on the Samarco mine, Brazil. The amount of issues a firm faces is increased while it starts operating in an international market. In international market, decision making process of the managers becomes more complicated. It is evident as one is dealing with multiple currency, legal marketing, and political, economic and cultural schemes (Czinkota, Ronkainen & Moffett, 2011). Geographic and demographic factors are the other things that differ widely. In the international context, it is crucial that the strategic level of the international level must be according to the operating country due to the rigidness of the international environment. A company can change in its implementation while operating nationally in a few months, but if a country is operating globally, contract, custom and law may interfere to make the changes more difficult and could take several years to get settled.; It is evident that starting a business is tough and when an individual is looking for international expansion, it is even tougher. But there are many benefits in expensing the business on a foreign land. There are many advantages such as tax incentives, international partnerships, faster growth and streamlining efficiencies. As per the international situation of BHP Billiton, I learned that the main problem is on the momentum of crafting solutions to the international problems. From my point of view, it is important for the international managers to consider the economic, political and social climate of the region in which the business is going to function. Having a more deep study about the Brazil town situation would have given opportunity to the company to prevent the mine accident. Having a concentrated research about the republic in which the company is going to operate will enable the managers to face the difficulties or challenges associated while operating overseas. Another t hing I think is important is the visibility of the international marketplace. In order to maintain the visibility in the international marketplace, international manager of BHP Billiton must deliberate the encounters and how they address them. If the sales are increasing overseas, international managers have to find the ways to steer language barriers that may increase towards customer service centre of the organisation. With the decrease in The Chinese market, the executives of BHP Billiton could also look on other developing economic countries such as India. An establishment international manager of the stated firm must explicitly define the companyââ¬â¢s guiding principles in terms of global mandate instead of allowing companyââ¬â¢s guiding principles on the terms of international adjust to its domestic activities. Another thing that international managers must consider is the agenda for international business of the countries. It is important to look out for the countries that have strong programs in place to help foreign investors and could help in making the process as smooth as possible.
